I love mail. I love letters, cards, and especially postcards. Since my birthday is in December, I really get to rack up the cards. Here is a simple and fun scan of all the Sabrinas from the envelopes. If you sent me a card, it might be here.

I'm back!

Yes, I have some Sabrina to share with the world. Here is something to get you going until I post the other 4 cards that I've been sitting on for a while. (Year? More? Sigh.)

This is the name place card that my new Japanese cousin, Yoko, made for the rehearsal dinner for her and my cousin's wedding in Los Angeles. It says Sabrina on one side in English, and in Japanese on the other. I scanned it flat, but have some pictures of what it looked like. She does beautiful handmade fabric jewelry that has been sold at Anthropologie! Check out her art and jewelry here.

Hello! Welcome to the Sabrina Design Project.

A couple of years ago in 2006 , right after I graduated from Texas State University, I had the idea to collect my name, Sabrina in every shape and form I could think of. As a graphic designer, I had met and been inspired by a number of professionals, professors, teachers, mentors and friends and began a book project. I finished a first draft of the book, but due to a hard drive crash, and the inability to mass produce it, or add new projects to it, I have decided to post my book in a blog form, and continue to add versions as I get them.

Most of these posts are from text written in 2006, so some information might not be up to date. My address has also changed, so contact me for my new one, or send me yours and I can send you a card to send back to me. Enjoy!

A million thanks for all the designers, illustrators, and creatives who took the time to make a card for my book, and more importantly, for the exploration of a design project. I would like to especially thank all my professors at Texas State for supporting this book idea, even though it took them the longest to get me their cards. Along with my mentors, I would like to thank the following people for various deeds in no particular order: Kim Bond and the goonies at Shoehorn Design for their great ideas and for tolerating my random visits with rought drafts of this book; Every designer that I bugged more than once to do a card for me; All my friends (designers, musicians and dancers) who thought this idea was pretty rad; The couple of jerks who thought this book was a conceited and dumb idea (ha!); Salem, my printer, scanner and copier, his friend The Precious, who prints the big momma pages, and Gus Gus, my Dell mouse who cooperates with my Apple iBook, Hermione; Rhonda for proofreading it, Ryan for editing it, and for my friends who all had to listen to me talk about getting new cards in; My mom and dad for all of the above and more, and my brother who would show this off to his friends; Dennis Fagan, for his photography of Nick Glenn’s incredibly difficult card; My iTunes for entertaining me while I edit and scan; Countless other things that I can’t really think about now.
